food. Cooking. baking. and more.
Lisa is a food writer and recipe developer based in Brooklyn, NY and Washington, DC. In addition to freelance food writing, Lisa is the editor of Unpeeled, a food website featuring seasonal recipes, essays, food guides, cooking and baking lessons, and women-in-food profiles.
A former NY prosecutor and graduate of the Culinary Institute of America’s baking and pastry program, Lisa worked for some of New York City’s top pastry chefs before turning to food writing.
In 2014, while working as a food editor in New York, Lisa’s husband was killed in a mountaineering accident. Grieving, Lisa turned to writing and speaking on about loss, young widowhood, and finding love again — with a special interest in the relationship between food and grief.
Her writing has appeared in Bon Appétit, Food52, The Washington Post, Eater, Modern Loss, Remedy Quarterly, The Napa Valley Register, and more.
Media appearances and interviews include the BBC World Service’s Food Chain radio program/podcast, Cup of Jo, and the Open to Hope podcast and television show.
